Jessica has been my niece’s nurse in the CCU unit at MH for the last four days, and I have to say she has been so kind and caring to not only my niece, but to the entire family!! I have been a nurse for 35 years and a nurse leader for over 20 years, and she embodies the values and characteristics of the great nurses I have had the pleasure to mentor over my 35 years. An example of her compassion and caring like family and raising the bar is the fact that my niece’s oldest son, who is 7 and knew his mommy before her stroke 2 years ago, is struggling with her not coming home ever again. Jessica called the counselor at the Child Life Center to come and speak to him and help him through the process of understanding that his mommy is passing away and what that means. She (the counselor) was very helpful for this young man’s emotional well-being, and all because Jessica realized the situation and acted upon it today. Thank the Lord for Jessica and her compassionate care and kindness to my niece and our family!! Please consider her for the DAISY Award because she is truly deserving of this honor.
