As one of Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital CWOCNs, I have the opportunity and privilege to serve our patients throughout the entire hospital. In my short employment here, I have had the privilege to consult on three patients assigned to Josh as their caregiver on three separate occasions. In all my encounters with Josh, he has been professional, caring, compassionate, willing to learn, and has shown and delivered patient care that embodies the Providence Mission.

Below is an example of the caring and compassionate attitude that exemplifies Josh’s approach to providing the best care to his patients: The patient was disheveled and unkempt. The patient was a bit withdrawn and stated, "Everyone is laughing and it's not funny, I just need help." This writer listened to the patient, validated his concerns, and informed him that the laughter he heard was the neighboring patient having a private conversation with a family member and was not directed to him. The patient was responsive and relieved. Support provided to the patient including reassuring him that his care is very important to us, and he will be provided with the best possible care that he requires and needs. The patient was in much better spirits after our conversation.

RN Josh came into attendance. POC was discussed to soak the patient's feet. He also stated he would ensure the patient received a bath and it was confirmed a short while later that the patient was showered and in clean clothing. The patient replied, "I feel much better now." I also heard Josh apologize to the patient for any feelings of uncomfortableness that he felt. This is the kind of compassion, caring, and dedicated attitude that the Providence Mission promises, and it was delivered by RN, Joshua to this appreciative patient. Kudos to Josh for his dedication to humanity, for being kind, and for practicing nursing that is aligned with the Mission values.
