Joy goes over and above daily. She makes a point of educating every patient on effective communications with the team and reinforcing this at every visit. She recognizes the patient and family members need support with information to help them make decisions but also to assist with emotional care. She relates on a personal level, so she knows first-hand how important it is to take the time to hold a hand, wipe a tear, and listen to hopes, dreams, and fears. She travels this journey with her patient's and provides the consistent support that is so desperately needed.
Joy is always respectful of the patients and their family as well as her coworkers. Joy has a huge capacity to recognize when a colleague needs help and she jumps right in without a second thought. Most of the time she does it quietly without calling attention to herself. You can count on her for a helping hand, a kind word or a joke when you need it the most. She is the kind of person you strive to be like. I respect and admire her and am honored to call her my colleague and friend.
