My mom was admitted to the ICU and then transferred to 7 West. Juan made the stay such a pleasant experience. We have never had a bad experience with any nursing staff at the VA, but we were both very happy to see Juan again as we knew she would be well taken care of. Juan has a way of connecting with the patient and family, always goes above and beyond, and is always happy and ready, with a quick joke or funny comment or story.

Juan is such a warm-hearted person! He has compassion for his job, and you can tell he loves working with patients and their families. He takes the time to get to know us and is just the most personable nurse we have ever had the pleasure of working with. He came by at the end of his shift and wanted to make sure he got to see us and say goodbye just in case we were gone before he came back on. He made sure to take the time to encourage me as the caregiver and let me know that he thought I was doing a good job which really made an impact and inspires me that I’m doing the right things in caring for my mom. I can’t explain how truly grateful I am for the genuine love that we have received from Juan! He is such a shining star in our long journey; thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything that you do, you are very appreciated!
