Juan above and beyond for all patients, not just his own. On Tuesday, I had a patient who was coding (8 times) in Cath lab and I need to communicate to his family that he was going to pass. The family spoke only Spanish and I nor the physician were able to communicate with them. I did not feel this was appropriate for the language line, so I called for a nurse translator and CCU did not have anyone Spanish speaking. So, our secretary called CV1 and Juan came down. He stayed for at least 30 minutes communicating and translating for me. He also returned to the CCU after the patient passed to answer questions and translate and give his condolences to the family. To me, this was a huge act of kindness. I know how hectic the floor can be and I know there were things Juan could have been doing on his unit but put that aside to help me, help this family, I was very appreciative, and I know the family was as well.
