I am a woman fighting an addiction to drugs. People tend to treat me shabbily. Most look through me or over me, and not listen nor take me seriously. This was not the case with Julie. She really cares about her patients, whether or not they are her cup of tea. She asked questions and listened carefully to my answers. She took the time to fill in all the blanks left by others. She took the time to do tasks that were overlooked, like empty the overflowing bedside potty. She even made the ultrasound ordered by the physician of my heart happen. She is the epitome of what a nurse is. I will never forget her. She made me feel like I mattered again. I still haven't used drugs and it's been a month now!
