She took photos at the delivery and stayed late that evening to make sure we had the most perfect momentos of my baby’s delivery.
My husband and I had our world turned upside down. We were expecting our first child and during a routine OB office visit, we found out our son had passed away at 28 weeks gestation. We made the difficult decision to come to the hospital to be induced later than evening. We were incredibly blessed to have Julie take care of us during such a vulnerable and sorrowful time. As a labor and delivery nurse, I know the emotional toll taking care of patients in this situation can be. The entire care team never showed that emotional toll and treated us with such compassion that it made us able to reflect on even the darkest times with fondness. The support we received at the hospital was so amazing that our family is still talking about how great it was.
Julie met us at the hospital at midnight and took care of us overnight. She returned the next afternoon to be there for the delivery. She went above and beyond to ensure not only I was supported, but my husband and our family were supported. She took photos at the delivery and stayed late that evening to make sure we had the most perfect momentos of my baby’s delivery. There is a time limit on being able to get these momentos and her attention to detail is something I will never be able to thank her enough for.
I know in the same way they went above and beyond their call to provide excellence always for me; they provide this kind of care for every patient they care for. Never in my life did I expect to be the patient requiring bereavement care on my own unit. Julie was a light in an unthinkably terrible situation.
