Kate took the time out of her day to come all the way up to see how my dad liked his new room and to make sure he was doing okay!
Where do I start? Probably when we were admitted to the ER, then immediately went to the CCU for about a week (everyone was great there also!!) Then, from there, we got transferred to the Progressive Care Unit. From the beginning, Kate was very interested in my dad's health and comfort. No matter how many patients she had, she made us feel like my dad was the only patient of hers. She showed she cared in so many ways by being involved in conversations with the family, answering all the questions we asked (and Kate never seemed to be annoyed with any of it), she made sure she came by and said goodnight when she left each shift as well as saying good morning to us when we came in each day to visit dad. Kate would always help to comfort my dad when he was feeling scared or was going in and out of delirium. Kate always seemed to know what to do in those situations. She also helped us, the family. Kate was not only our nurse but our therapist as well. We talked to Kate about life, the phases of dying, the level of comfort care, what to expect, all the things! I just can’t say enough good things about her and then to top it all off, my dad got moved from Progressive Care to the Oncology unit, on floor 18, and Kate took the time out of her day to come all the way up to see how my dad liked his new room and to make sure he was doing okay! I mean, how stinking thoughtful. She’s just the best! We’ve been in this hospital for about 3 weeks now, and she, by far has gone above and beyond what I expected a nurse to do. She’s awesome!!!
