She is professional, poised, competent, and well-received by families and staff members in the rheumatology clinic.
I have had the opportunity to work with Kathryn Gallagher of the ambulatory Clinical Resource Unit (CRU) as she covered in the rheumatology clinic on several occasions. CRU nurses are among the most flexible individuals as they need to be adept at skillfully covering many different areas that they can be placed. This flexibility is a great asset and there has been no year where it has been more greatly needed. When covering in the rheumatology clinic and when placed in new and novel situations, she applies her broad knowledge-base of Children’s systems, seeks out resources and compiles information that serves as the basis for possible solutions. Katy's professionalism, caring, compassionate nature, extreme competence and upbeat personality is greatly appreciated by the rheumatology team. She is professional, poised, competent, and well-received by families and staff members in the rheumatology clinic. I have seen her share information with families from resources like Good Rx to help with pharmacy costs for families she worked with. She has good clinical judgment and a keen sense of focusing on the most critical aspects of a certain situations. As a CRU nurse, she has seem clinic operations in many settings and shares best practices with our team that she has seen work well in different settings. She has not been afraid to tackle new challenges that have come up. Katy embodies that traits of a nurse nominated for the DAISY nurse excellence award. As an excellent nurse from one of the more flexible departments in the era of the COVID pandemic, she is truly fitting nominee for this award.
