A patient who is followed by hem/onccame into the EU with a fever and a pheresis line. The EU called the 9th Floor to assist and clarify the procedure with obtaining blood cultures and labs from the different lumens. Katie took the time to come down to the EU not once but twice and assisted in obtaining labs from the patient. Her willingness to help the EU and our families is so appreciated!
By Katie coming down to the EU to assist in patient care, she helped the EU with an unfamiliar task, accessing a pheresis line, and ensured the patient received safe and quality care. Our mother and patient was happy to see a familiar face from 9 and had received excellent care from Katie in the past. Katie was a great resource for the EU and we appreciate her coming down to do what's right for kids and EU nurses. She was all around a big help to our families, patients, and co-workers!
