Katie is an incredible nurse and has the kindest heart. We recently had a patient who had a baby and Katie was caring for her. When Katie was getting ready to discharge the patient home, she noticed the patient's toddler was only in a diaper. When Katie questioned whether the child had other clothes to put on, the patient said she did not have any. Katie called her husband and sent him to the store to purchase clothes for the toddler and the new baby with her own money. She then made it her mission to help fundraise and donate clothes for the Kare Kloset here at the hospital, as it had no clothes for children.
If we could clone people, she would definitely be my choice. She always has a smile on her face, goes above and beyond for her patients and fellow staff and has wonderful attitude. She has now collected over 5 bags of donations for the Kare Kloset here at Siena. In trying to help this patient, she noticed that the hospital does not have any clothes for toddlers and babies and has made it her mission to change that. She wasn't asked to do this, and this is just the kind of person that she is. She is truly a Humankindness model.
