Katrina shows commitment by making sure my dad is comfortable and taken care of, even when neurological symptoms make him a difficult patient. She treats him with respect, as well as his family, and goes the extra mile to learn more about her patient by asking those who know his personality (my mother and myself) if certain behaviors are normal, so she can determine which might be indicators of health issues. Truly focusing on serving the Veteran, she ensured his prescriptions were brought to his room before discharge to attenuate any additional stress he might encounter waiting for them at the pharmacy. She even took the time to help me wheel him downstairs, wait at the door with him while I got the car, so he wouldn't be alone, and helped him into my vehicle. I have never received, as a family member, such genuine care and concern, and have never seen another person treat my father with such genuine respect in the month he was hospitalized. She is nothing short of a blessing.
