Kelly was caring for a young woman in the emergency department who had a sudden cardiac event. Kelly went into the room immediately and provided lifesaving interventions on this patient. Kelly consistently provides exceptional care to her patients but this care was very high stress given the nature of the case and patient age. She communicated clearly with all providers and literally saved this patient. Afterward, she checked in with everyone involved to ensure they were coping appropriately and had reached out to the entire department for recognition for the situation.
I don't want to just recognize Kelly in the situation but all the phenomenal care she provides on a daily basis. She is thoughtful and compassionate even in the most difficult situations and she is one of the smartest nurses I know. Metro ER staff and patients are extremely lucky to have Kelly on our team. In addition to her outstanding patient care, Kelly is involved in several shared governance councils. She has played a pivotal role in promoting professionalism in nursing. Without her, we would be fighting an uphill battle to accomplish all she had done for nursing and the ER. Thank you, Kelly! We couldn't do it without you. Congrats on saving MANY patients!
