This nurse personifies what the DAISY Award represents. My husband has been at Northside Gwinnett for a total of 51+ days on three separate occasions since September 2022. He has had a plethora of great nurses. However, this nurse sincerely exemplifies every quality that an outstanding nursing professional possesses—I know, as I, too, am an RN. Northside should be so honored that she chose to work at their hospital. During my husband’s most recent admission, she was the epitome of all the best characteristics of a nursing professional. She was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, and, most of all, empathetic to my husband’s feelings on one of his worst days since being diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma. She made my husband feel so comfortable and at ease with the difficult time he was having through her patience and willingness to help him feel as comfortable as possible. Equally as important, she was able to not only bring her sweet, kind, sincere, caring treatment to my husband but also provide her wonderful sense of humor to a serious illness. She knew exactly what to say to help us both forget, for just a second, our reality, and we were able to actually laugh. I cannot speak enough to the love she showed us, even though she only knew us for a moment in time. We are forever grateful!
