Kevin was nominated for his unwavering advocacy for a patient's well-being. The patient was admitted to the ED with a high fever, pneumonia and had suffered from two seizures, one at home and one at the hospital. Kevin sensed the patient was not ready to be released when others said she was. When the second seizure occurred at the hospital, the consensus shifted to his recommendation and she was then admitted to the ICU and remained there for six days.
Kevin knew I was not out of danger. To say I am grateful for his persistence is an understatement. It's nice to know there are guardian angels close by.
Knowing full well it takes teamwork and a village, I am writing to thank all of you who came to my rescue that evening. I am forever grateful for the wonderful care I received in the ED.
