Kim's presence is known and that is because she exuberates knowledge, confidence, integrity, humility, and grace. Kim is exactly where she needs to be and is doing exactly what she’s meant to be doing.
Kim is a long time ER nurse, former ICU nurse, SANE nurse, domestic violence educator, SANE program creator, RN leader, wife, mother, daughter, and friend.
On what was supposed to be a happy day for Kim, someone else was choosing to commit an unthinkable crime. On a beautiful Saturday, Kim was celebrating with her family the birthday of her twin boys. However, Kim was called and asked to come to the hospital as they had a sexual crime that ended in death, and her expert knowledge and skill was needed. Kim reported to the facility where not only the victims but also the alleged criminal responsible for the crimes was being monitored. Kim and her team of ER heroes did all the necessary assessments, treatments, procedures, phone calls, and went through all the motions to provide the most excellent care in the most awful situation. The amount of trauma that Kim and her ER team absorbed that day during that family’s worst nightmare is unmeasurable. Unfortunately for Kim, it did not end there.
Kim and her special set of skills were needed in another unit where the alleged criminal was being medically monitored. Kim needed to collect forensic evidence from the body of the alleged criminal. I could end this nomination here because I think I have provided enough information, but I won’t. I want you to know little Kim probably stands a whole 5 foot 2 inches tall. However, when she enters a room – you’d think she was 6 feet tall. Her presence is known and that is because she exuberates knowledge, confidence, integrity, humility, and grace. Kim is exactly where she needs to be and is doing exactly what she’s meant to be doing. The difference that she makes every day, but especially on THAT particular day, was priceless. Thank you, Kim, for everything you do, even though you think it is “just your job.”
