Let me start by saying that I am an ER nurse, so I know good nursing. We arrived at the unit on a very busy night and we were quickly greeted by the wonderful team of 8 Houston. Our nurse, Kirsten, quickly got to work ensuring my son's safety and comfort. He was post-op and she stayed on top of his nausea and vomiting. When nausea got out of control (as it always does) she was the first nurse (in all of our hospital stays at various hospitals) to get the resident in the room and communicate my son's needs effectively. Because of her, this was our shortest post-op hospital stay.
Kirsten collaborated with all his physicians and handled every obstacle my challenging son (he's a tough patient) brought her way. And if that wasn't enough, she also took the time to order an egg-crate mattress for us during our stay. I didn't tell her this, but I have A. S. and always dread hospital stays because of the uncomfortable sleeping quarters, which often cause an A. S. flare-up. Kirsten, you are a phenomenal nurse! You did your job despite being busy as heck!
