Kristen has the depth, soul, dedication, and passion for nursing.
Kristen McCracken was my preceptor as a new nurse graduate. She excels in every aspect of what nursing is. She has an extensive education on complex tasks and procedures necessary for patient care, and it is because of this that she is often a resource nurse on the floor rather than having an assignment. She will always help you, whether she is a resource nurse or not. She builds relationships with patients and coworkers. I have so much more I could say about her.

Watching Kristen perform nursing care on a dying patient this week was truly a work of art. Kristen had asked me, as a coworker, to go into the dying patient’s room and spend some time talking to the patient as her labored breathing was audible and she was actively dying. She had no family and no visitors, only a non-present H.C. representative. The patient was receiving comfort care only as she was a DNR/DNI. Kristen came in and provided lip moisture and oral care/suctioning for comfort, as the patient was mouth breathing and visibly very dry. We both talked to the patient and touched her arms and her breathing seemed to slow down. As I was leaving the patient’s bedside, Kristen came back in to sit with her as her concern was the patient would die alone. Shortly after that, the patient passed away. Kristen has the depth, soul, dedication, and passion for nursing. She embodies what our Mission at Eskenazi Health is all about. I am always so impressed with the care she provides for all of her patients. A great resource, preceptor, teacher, and caregiver. She does it from the heart.

Everything has been great. My nurse today, Kristen, was so kind and helpful. "Muy Bueno". Kristen is a really good nurse. She made me feel comfortable and safe. My family and I very much appreciate her kindness and attention.
