My daughter was GIGGLING as the staff worked all because of the extra care and attention the team showed her.
I am a colleague of Kristin Rundel, but also the mother of a patient treated at Trinity Health Livingston. My daughter has a sleuth of rare medical issues. Normally we drive to Mott, but with her symptoms we did not have that time (40-minute drive). We opted for the 5 min drive to THLN, and I am happy we did. EVERYONE we met with was amazing. They were humble and gracious, welcoming my expertise on her conditions. They are not a pediatric hospital, but they gave it everything they had. At one point we had two nurses and two techs working to maintain my daughter’s line and keeping her happy. My daughter was GIGGLING as the staff worked all because of the extra care and attention the team showed her. We have had more than our fair share of ED visits and medical interactions. This was one of the best so far because the team took an extra second, gave additional attention, and really listened to our concerns. As part of her treatment plan, my daughter needed bloodwork and IV fluids. She is 16 months old and a hard poke, but Kristin listened to my past experiences with IV starts and was able to successfully start a line on the first try! She was kind, empathetic and professional. At one point the team spent nearly 30 minutes trying to maintain her line so she could get the necessary medication and fluids. Kristin half-jokingly said she would stay there and hold her arm until the IV was finished. I think if I said yes, she would have! Overall, we were very impressed with the team working together to treat a pediatric patient!
