Krystle was in attendance for a delivery of a newborn with an unexpected obvious chromosomal issue. The Pediatrician was not present at the time of delivery but was called immediately after delivery. Krystle did an exceptional job leading the situation. The Doctor did remain on the phone with Krystle, and the doctor stated that she was calm and self-driver. The doctor continued to say it was quite impressive how Krystle was responding, caring for the baby and reporting her assessment to him before he even asked or gave instructions.
Krystle gave direction to the respiratory therapist on maintaining the airway and bagging the baby. Krystle called for the ER physician to come up and assist with intubation until the pediatrician could get to the hospital. Krystle kept the pediatrician informed on the phone while he was en route. The doctor said this was a big help. The pediatrician said Krystle needs a gold star rating for the way she intervened with the compromised newborn.
