My dad had open heart surgery. At the end of his second day in ICU, he had been switching from the chair to the bed and back again and his back was very sore. Laura, his evening nurse, leaned him forward and gave him a deep tissue massage. Several times that evening she gave him that deep massage. That 'healing touch' was healing. He felt so much better; it took the pain, stress and muscle tightness away. He was able to sleep, felt a lower amount of pain and was able to get through the next day.
Laura had a great sense of humor and a fun little spark in her. She looked and acted like she enjoyed helping people in her job. We had a chance to talk to her a bit about her background. She was funny and interesting, making the whole time feel like more of a relationship that a business of just doing the work. My dad really liked her and looked forward to the next shift Laura was on. She really made a difference for Dad. Thank you!
