Laurie was my son’s nurse the night after surgery. She spent the time to explain to us what was happening and what could be expected. The next morning I called her for an update on Paul. It was just before shift change so she was quite busy. However, she took my number and promised to call. She did as she was walking to her car. Her report was encouraging. She is very knowledgeable and confident in what she does and she performs with a high level of professionalism.

On one of the nights following, when my son Paul was in a crisis, even though Laurie was not his nurse she was quite concerned about his well being and mine. She saw to it that I could get some well needed rest as the medical team was looking after Paul in his room.

Her acknowledgement of me as I walked through the hallway and her expressed joy on Paul’s progress are demonstrations of her caring spirit and an encouragement to me.
