My sweetie, S, found out one week ago that he needed to have a craniotomy to remove a possibly malignant meningioma.
S is a healthy 55-year-old male, non-smoker, no drugs, and basically a very healthy dude.
So our stress level went from a 1 to a 12, and we went into action arranging time off, blood work appointments, etc., with very little time to emotionally prepare for this life-changing event (maybe life ending!)
The day of the surgery, it all hit home and emotions ran high (I was a wreck). After the four-hour surgery, I reported to ICU afraid of what was next.
That's where Laurie took over.
She was amiable, knowledgeable, sympathetic, professional and on point with what needed to happen next. She let me stay to provide whatever comfort I could. She answered my questions with honesty and specifics. I immediately calmed down and cheered up.
The whole team throughout our stay was great. Thank you for making a terrifying experience a positive one!
