We met Lexy on our first overnight, unexpected stay in 7A. We were tired and nervous not knowing what to expect. Lexy came to bring us up to the floor. With her bubbly personality and the way she stepped in to comfort N, we were immediately at ease. Since then, we have made 7A our home as N waits for a new heart.
As you can imagine, as a 3-year-old in the hospital, it is not easy. The tests, blood draws, dressing changes, etc. N gets very anxious with all of these, and Lexy is always going out of her way to help in any way she can to keep him content. She has sprinted downstairs to give his vaccine before he wakes up from a procedure knowing it will keep him from getting upset from a shot. She has sat with him on her lap for an hour getting him prepared for an EEG while asking someone to run downstairs to get his favorite gummy bears. She is always going out of her way to make him feel at ease. Seems like every time I (as a mom) am feeling overwhelmed and turn for help, she is already at his door.
When N is not having the best day, she always finds a way to turn that around. Lexy is incredibly compassionate about what she does. She not only advocates for N but for us, as parents, as well. We will never forget the impact Lexy has made on not only N, but our family, through this tough time in our lives. We are so grateful to have had her as a part of our journey!
