Nurses like Lisa show up every shift and love their patients.
My mother had a massive stroke last September that left her unable to speak and walk. She was an RN for 49 years in mainly med/surg and was a DAISY Honoree herself. We were terrified. My mom is my best friend. I called and got Lisa on the phone on Wednesday and again the next day in the very early morning (after 2 AM). She took the time to listen about who Mom was. She was extremely empathetic. The reason I’m nominating her is that she has been treating my mom like she doesn’t have a stroke. She’s engaging her with what she knows (nursing).. joking with her.. and making her smile. She doesn’t talk AT her.. or about her.. she talks WITH her. All we have anymore is the ability to give Mom comfort and joy. In these terrible times of Covid and being understaffed and tired.. nurses like Lisa show up every shift and love their patients. That’s all the families need. I haven’t slept much since Monday because of this, but because I know my mom is in Lisa’s care along with the other Extraordinary Nurses, I can sleep tonight with peace. To all of you, because I know this gets read from when mom got hers.. please know, you are appreciated, respected, prayed for, and very loved in our community! Thank you for taking such good care of the people we love the most. You are all true angels!
