This woman made me feel like I could tell her my everything. She was truly there to listen! I poured my heart out to her and told her my story, and she understood!
I was getting ready for an upper endoscopy and Lisa was my nurse getting me ready. She made a joke that we must be the coolest people since we had the same name putting my nerves at ease. While she was placing my IV she asked me about what I do and I replied I work in audiology. She knew I wore hearing aids because I had done a lot of the usual "huhs?" And "whats?" We got into the conversation of how I lost a lot of my hearing and the tears started pouring out of my eyes. This woman made me feel like I could tell her my everything. She was truly there to listen! I poured my heart out to her and told her my story, and she understood! It’s not just my hearing. It’s my eyesight, the migraines, it’s so much more. And she listened, and she let me cry. The best part was a month later I came back from bariatric surgery, and she saw me and right away knew who I was and remembered my story. I just thought, WOW, I wasn’t just a patient! She truly listened and remembered after a MONTH!!! It made me feel like a person not a patient! I can’t thank her enough. I work in healthcare, and too many times, we find ourselves just trying to get our “job” done. Not Lisa. She is here for the right reasons!!!!
