My Granddaughter was the hospital the first 8 months of her life. Once she was moved from the NICU, she was moved to A4 south where we met Lisa. Lisa was so good to J. She took care of her like she was her own child, she even cried the day we finally got to take J home and we have stayed in contact with her ever since. Lisa was so helpful to us because we had taken custody of J and both my husband and I worked full time and on top of that we live an hour and a half away from Children's, so we could not go to the hospital every day but Lisa kept us up to date on what the doctors were saying and doing .We knew J was in good hands and were never worried about that. Lisa is simply the best when it comes to the nursing staff at Children's.
Lisa was always helpful to us and she took very good care of our granddaughter when we could not be at the hospital with her. She spent a little extra time with us when at all possible.
If there was something we didn’t understand about what was being done with our granddaughter Lisa made sure she explained it and if we still had questions she made sure we understood everything.
Describe a situation during which this nurse made your family and child feel comfortable: I had to spend 24 hrs with my granddaughter to learn how to operate her feeing pump and give her meds through her g/j tube. Lisa was very helpful when teaching me how to give J her meds through her feeding tube. She made me feel so comfortable about what I was doing that it seemed like I’d been doing it forever.
When we couldn’t be at the hospital we would call and check on J, Lisa would tell us everything that had went on that day, from the time her shift began until the time it was nearing its end and whatever the doctors said or did. She asked if there was anything we didn’t understand and if so she made sure before we hung up the phone that we did understand and we felt at ease.
