Liza is a passionate, caring, and hardworking RN who has been at Gaylord for over 22 years. She is always willing to help her coworkers and does so with a smile and a positive attitude. Whether bringing patients to and from therapy, assisting a team member, or answering questions, she always gives her patients the best and most compassionate care. She is a role model I look up to. One can describe Liza as exuding happiness and a daily ray of sunshine!

Another coworker shared that Liza is one of the best nurses she knows. When she was a new registered nurse, she recalled that her first few shifts off of orientation were busy and challenging. One night, in particular, she had a patient who became septic and very ill. The coworker was in the room with the patient for a long time. Liza, without even asking, took care of her other patients. She changed the bed linens and performed wound care. The new nurse was so grateful; she shared that when she thanked Liza and offered to take over for her, Liza answered in her usual manner, saying, “I’ve got it, mama! Go take care of your med pass.”

The coworker also shared that she recently saw a post on social media about being a “multi-purpose nurse,” meaning you’re a coworker willing to help with anything and everything. Liza is definitely that type of nurse! To top it off, she bakes delicious treats for our nursing unit almost daily! Her patients love her for her compassionate, expert-level care, and we all love her because she is like our work mom. Liza is one of the most dependable people on our floor! She is the true meaning of a DAISY Nurse! Everything is done with a smile, and she would never expect recognition for it in a million years—she just cares for her patients and us! We learn from Liza every day, and she is a great role model for all nurses!
