Mae is a Registered Nurse who works on our Multi-Operational Service Unit (MOSU) as an ICU nurse. She has been with Banner Ironwood since we opened up the Ironwood facility in 2010. Prior to working at Ironwood Mae worked at another Banner Facility in their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) unit. Mae was nominated by a peer on her unit, who wrote: "Mae received a patient who was transferred to the ICU from the women infants services (WIS) department after the patient's newborn baby passed away. Mae spent much needed time with the patient and her husband. She effectively communicated with her patient while showing empathy, concern and love for the patient. Mae demonstrated remarkable poise and strength through this difficult assignment. I truly believe no one in this hospital could have cared for this patient better than Mae. She practiced outstanding holistic care. She cared for the patient body, mind and spirit. Mae's work demonstrates what the DAISY award is all about." Mae was able to show extraordinary nursing care to this family when they needed it most. Mae definitely is a team player. She rose to the occasion to care for this family during a tragic event in their lives. Mae demonstrated exceptional patient care by truly making a difference in the life of this family that will resonate with them for a long time to come.
