I am extremely grateful for Marie’s work and her willingness to take on such an expansive project.
Marie is an outstanding nurse who provides compassionate and exemplary care to our CBC families. She is trained in both labor and delivery, mother-baby couplet care, and level 2 neonatal care. I am, however, nominating Marie for another reason. When planning began to implement EPIC stork, I was asked to lead the project. At the same time, I was the lead for the CBC remodel project, which was extremely time-consuming, and I knew I could not manage both projects. Knowing Marie’s IT expertise and interest, I asked her to lead the EPIC project, and she readily agreed. This role was an enormous undertaking. There were frequent in-person meetings at the Montlake campus, as well as continual zoom meetings. These meetings continued for over a year. Marie worked tirelessly with the Montlake OB staff to create workflows that would perform for both campuses. She kept me apprised of decisions and was totally immersed in this work while at the same time working her FTE on the unit. Marie worked with the superusers to train all the staff in EPIC stork. With the implementation delay, EPIC went live the week Marie’s beautiful daughter was born. Marie continues to serve as our EPIC lead, working to improve our required documentation and providing teaching points to staff. I am extremely grateful for Marie’s work and her willingness to take on such an expansive project. Without Marie’s hard work, I am confident that we would not have the streamlined EMR that we have now. She is truly deserving of the DAISY Award.
