Marlene McCranie, RN is providing remarkable care in a compassionate way in the Heart Life Unit. Those of us who have passed through this unit have come face to face with their own mortality and vulnerability. Heart issues can have a sobering and unsettling effect. Marlene has embraced our anxieties with genuine concern. One gets the feeling that what she does is more than a job for her; it is a calling and a mission. She treats each patient as unique individuals. With those who laugh and joke, she does likewise. Those who express anxiety and stress are met by Marlene with genuine empathy and care. Her caring example pervades the whole unit. Everyone, including the newest patient, feels as though they have been invited into a loving, caring family. As a result, when one finishes the rehab program, one is inclined to go back and continue exercises in that accepting environment.
Always addressed by one's name or as'young man' or 'young lady', those who passed through this Heart Life receive the highest quality care by committed, well-trained professionals. Those who have been to other similar units say they are is no comparison to the quality of care they receive here.
