Mary was nominated by three families for her outstanding care. One mother wrote that her daughter was scared and so was she, and Mary helped ease their worries. Another mother wrote that Mary came to know that the child loved to sing. So Mary sang and danced on command in the patient's room, giving the mother and the child a brief time to forget about their worries, fears, and where they were, and allowed them to just have fun. The child would run out of her room to find Mary. It was later discovered that the family never realized she was the charge nurse while she was singing and dancing with this child. Another mother wrote about Mary's ability to calm her child when no one else could. She made her priority easing the mind of her child.
