Maureen has many roles on the IPU, both formal and informal, and throughout them all she is a shining example of providing care, compassion and dedication.
When she is a charge RN on the IPU she goes above and beyond to ensure that patients and families receive the best care; When she is the Resource RN she does the same thing as she rounds on other units in the hospital in a way that supports the other RNs; When she is a Mental Health Evaluator in the ED she works hard to support families through their crisis, and ensures families are educated and feel supported.
Her work does not end there: in addition to being an expert in all the positions listed above, she takes on extra projects and is always continuing to challenge herself to grow as a leader. No matter what role or project she happens to be doing on any given day, she is one of the first people staff go to with questions, concerns, or needing advise. She jumps at the opportunity to help her fellow co-workers learn, provide ARTful service, and maintain patient safety.
Maureen not only provides excellent services to our patients and families, but she strives to make not only herself a better leader but also to inspire and lead those around her.
As an RN on the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit for several years, and an employee of Seattle Children's for longer, Maureen has been trained to many positions.
On the IPU she can be charge nurse, resource nurse, emergency department mental health professional, admissions coordinator, and more. She excels at each of these roles and models ARTfulness and professionalism for her coworkers.
It is always a pleasure to work with Maureen and her drive and hard working nature inspire others to do the same. She works to provide the best care for each patient and their family and listens with an empathetic ear. She has taken on many extra projects within our unit and serves as a leader.
Maureen has helped me and many other people develop as employees on the IPU and I cannot imagine a more deserving RN to receive the DAISY Award.
