Who is a nurse? Most people would say the person who comes in before the doctor to take your vitals and gather the initial problem. In my case, my nurse Megan, was by far more than that. I was diagnosed with pneumonia on a Monday and by Thursday, it was way worse and I was transported to the hospital by ambulance because I could barely breathe. The first person I remember actually talking to was Megan. I had tears rolling down my face and I asked her if I was going to be ok. She wiped the tears from my face and told me I was in the right place to get better and she was going to be there to help me. And let me tell you, she didn't let me down. Of my 6 day hospital stay, Megan was my nurse 4 of the 6 days. She helped me to stay positive, even when I was feeling down and discouraged when things weren't improving. When they found out what type of pneumonia I had, she helped to try to figure out where I got it, but also told me not to worry. I could feel her positive energy and care for me, the moment she walked into my room. There are not enough adjectives to describe Megan in a nutshell. She is happy, positive, compassionate, personable, trustworthy, knowledgeable, and most importantly caring. I've never had a sister but can tell you that while at Aurora, I felt like I did. I didn't just feel like a patient, I felt like family. I discovered that life is short, you don't know when it may come to an end, but we should appreciate every moment that we have. As awful as my condition was, having Megan as a nurse, made it so much better.

Megan did just that. The only difference in the quote for me is, I'll NEVER forget her name. She is an excellent example of who a nurse is and who they should want to be. So, Thank You, Megan! I'll never forget you.
