I can't begin to describe how wonderful Shelly is as a nurse and a person. My husband and I experienced the traumatic birth of our daughter who needed to be in the NICU for 2 weeks. Many things happened during our stay. I became septic and our daughter M was in a fragile state. We prayed for good news every day but of course we had set backs during the way. We received bad news one day and came back to our room. Michele sat with us and listened as I cried, and my husband was not feeling positive as well. Michele told us about "Cake Day".
Whenever something good happens, anything at all, you need to celebrate by eating a piece of cake. The next day was that day. We told Michele about our good news. We went down to the NICU and came back that evening. When we got to our room, we saw 2 huge pieces of chocolate cake sitting on the bedside table from Michele. My husband and I began to cry. Michele took the time out of her busy day to do that for us. She is a wonderful, thoughtful, selfless person. We still celebrate "Cake Day"!
Note: This is Shelly's 2nd DAISY Award!
