I had surgery at the VA and a couple of days later my incision started bleeding. The surgeon told me to come to the ER and I did. Michelle was the nurse working and completed my ER intake. Knowing it was probably a little unconventional for a patient to contact the doctor and arrange to meet the doctor at the ER, I told Michelle what was going on and she stayed professional with the developing situation. When the surgeon arrived and started asking for supplies the ER didn't normally carry, Michelle was at hand and responding quickly and met his every need. She helped the surgeon with the assessment, sterilization, and rebandaging of the incision and hematoma. I was impressed with her knowledge, professionalism, and ability to keep me at ease. Michelle was able to expertly adapt to the needs of the surgeon and the patient with confidence and expertise. She is an asset to our Veterans and the VA.
