Had Michelle not stepped in and taken the time away from her already busy day, she could have suffered serious complications. It was this extraordinary care that really exemplified to me how deeply Michelle cares.
While caring for my daughter in the NICU, Michelle noticed that my wife was experiencing symptoms of postpartum eclampsia and told her to contact her doctor’s office. She was able to get checked and medically cleared after visiting the hospital. Michelle went above and beyond to help my wife, who was not her responsibility at all. This really seems like a culture that is established here at CHKD since the families of patients are treated so well. Sometimes, as parents, we get so focused on our little ones that we forget to worry about our own health. Michelle might have saved my wife from serious complications with that small act of kindness. Thank you, Michelle!

My daughter was having breathing issues after she was born and required a NICU stay. During the first few days, her mother and I were very scared and didn’t know what would happen to her. After days of very little sleep and trying to recover postpartum, my wife started developing some signs and symptoms that we didn’t pick up on because we were so focused on our daughter. Michelle had noticed a few of these symptoms. Even though my wife was not her patient, she went above and beyond to ask her how she was feeling and check on her. After talking with her and putting all the symptoms together, she then checked my wife’s blood pressure, which was abnormally high. She told my wife she needed to call her physician. My wife ended up having to go to the hospital to be evaluated for postpartum eclampsia. Had Michelle not stepped in and taken the time away from her already busy day, she could have suffered serious complications. It was this extraordinary care that really exemplified to me how deeply Michelle cares. She could have gone about her normal day, but she showed kindness and compassion for her patient’s family during a hectic time that was truly remarkable. I will never be able to thank Michelle enough for what could have been a lifesaving intervention. It was a huge blessing to have someone show that level of care. It will never be forgotten!
