Michelle is a terrific nurse that cares for each of her patient's deeply. Michelle had a patient whose daughter was also a patient on another unit that was not doing very well and had to be transferred to ICU. Michelle's patient became extremely anxious and wanted very badly to see her daughter. The staff was trying to explain that she could not visit her daughter at that moment until she stabilized, but she would be able to visit later. The message was not getting across to the patient because her hearing aid battery had died. Michelle went to the gift shop and bought replacement batteries with her own money so the patient would be able to receive the message better and hopefully put her mind at ease. Michelle kept in constant contact with the other nurse for updates. Later that day and all of the next day Michelle frequently took her patient down to visit with her daughter. Michelle was able to keep her patient calm and provide comfort during such a difficult time.
