Michelle is a very compassionate nurse. It is not uncommon for Michelle to go above and beyond the call of duty. In this situation, a patient's son had died while she was in the hospital. The patient was grief stricken and though she wanted to make it to the funeral, she was not yet feeling well enough to leave the hospital. Upon hearing the news, Michelle arranged for the patient to have a private room. The privacy she provided allowed the patient to be with family without disturbing others. The patient asked often for Michelle. Finally after her shift, Michelle spent time with the patient who wanted to read to her the eulogy she wrote for her son. The patient made a special connection with Michelle, and Michelle responded with sensitivity and patience.

Michelle is a very dedicated nurse. She just received her certification to be a wound care nurse for the Oakwood system and passed the test for a Med Surg Certification. She also is applying for CAP Level III this year. Michelle is committed to her practice and is a role model and leader on the Medical Unit at Heritage Hospital.
