My infant son was diagnosed with RSV a few weeks ago. while mostly unaware of the virus I did know how dangerous the virus could be in a baby so young. Upon arriving to the hospital, I was emotionally distraught and falling apart. I was placed into a Pedi/PICU room only to hear from the hall that it had been a mistake and they did not have a room ready for me. I was crying and shaking while holding my son to my chest fearing the worst for his health. Mindi came in and made me feel comfortable. She did not let them remove me from the room in the state I was in and helped the staff with another solution. I cannot express the peace of mind that gave me in such a fragile emotional state. Her upbeat personality, kindness, and sweet nature have been so appreciated in our 15-day long stay. She makes sure to check on us, reassures us when we have fears, and if she can't answer our questions she finds somebody who can. She has always made us feel taken care of and I know if Mindi is our nurse for the day I can relax because we are in good hands. She absolutely exemplifies everything the DAISY Award stands for and I will never be able to express my gratitude in full measure. She truly enjoys her work and as a mother of a sick patient, her joy for what she does is felt and appreciated. I hope she knows how much she has meant to our family.
