I came to IRMC for a diagnostic cardiac cath and the next thing I remember is coming to in the ICU. As a complication of the cath, I suffered a mild stroke. Luckily, my symptoms resolved quickly and almost completely. However, this event meant that I had to stay the night in the hospital, something I definitely wasn’t planning on doing. Despite my age, I’m a pretty active person and I HATE to be tied down or restricted in any way. I’m not the most patient patient. Fortunately for me, I had a nurse in the ICU named Morgan who was very understanding. She spent time with me when I felt anxious and insisted that I wanted to leave.

I have had 2 back surgeries and I have trouble sleeping in any bed but my own. Morgan was there, offering to call the doctor and get my pain medication ordered. I told her that the doctor might be upset if she called him so late, but Morgan said not to worry about that, she would get me what I needed.

All the care that I received was good, and all of the nurses took good care of me, but Morgan was heaven-sent. I feel blessed that she was my nurse that night. She is a credit to IRMC.

I know that she was busy that night and there were probably patients there in worse shape than me, but I am truly grateful for the time she spent with me. It made a tough situation more bearable.
