My son, an EFMP category 2, was diagnosed with ADD and depression several years ago. He has a difficult time adjusting to change, tends to be isolated and hard on himself which leads to periods of depression. We recently relocated from overseas and were assigned to RN Nakeshia Carter, a Family Nurse Practitioner. She was compassionate, attentive and made my son feel at ease. No small feat. She discussed his recent changes and how it was affecting him at school and emotionally. She discussed his current treatment and offered alternatives. She listened to him! She made him feel like he was part of the team and had an active role in his plan of care.
When we left, my son stated, "I like her!" A simple statement that goes beyond the obvious. 2 weeks later Nakeshia reached out to us to see how my son was doing. She went above and beyond. It is apparent that she genuinely loves what she does and cares for the patients she encounters daily. I cannot thank her enough for putting a smile on my son's face, for providing him a safe environment for him to speak freely and for taking such amazing care of him. RN Carter is phenomenal!
