Penne is a constant example of “above and beyond.” I’ve known Penne in a professional capacity for 10-plus years. When you see Penne, you see a nurse who loves her job and her patients. Penne comes to work with a smile and positive attitude and shows compassion to all her patients.
Penne takes as much time with each patient as needed to meet their needs. I have witnessed Penne having a friendly conversation with her patients- making a personal connection. Each patient feels like they are her only priority. She ensures all of their needs are met, from the most basic to the most challenging. She is a fierce advocate for her patients and truly listens.
Not only is Penne an amazing nurse, but she’s also an amazing teammate. She treats everyone on the team with respect. She orients new nurses and is fabulous resource for students, new staff and anyone floating to Med/Surg. She also takes it upon herself to celebrate the staff. Recently she took individual pictures of each staff person and placed them on a display as a recognition and celebration for Nurse’s Week. Although it was Nurse’s Week, she celebrated everyone on the team! She truly embodies the profession of nursing and is a valuable asset, not only to Capital Region Medical Center, but to the profession of nursing.
