Our mother was brought into the Emergency Room via ambulance. When we were allowed to go back to her room, we found that Rachel was her nurse. We noticed immediately that Rachel was very attentive and showed a great amount of genuine concern for mom's condition. Mom was quite disoriented and in a great amount of pain. Rachel always directed questions to my mom first, and when mom couldn't answer, looked to us for input. She honestly cared about the information we gave her and how it fit into the puzzle of mom's condition. Our family is very hands on with mom's care but each of us has a slightly different set of details to share. We found as the night progressed that Rachel appeared just as puzzled and concerned as we were. She exhibited a great attitude, use of time, efficiency, and she was so personable and easy to understand when giving us the details of "what's next." We can be kind of long-winded at times, but never felt dismissed. She was very prompt to respond when we needed help with something. The information she provided showed her knowledge and experience with similar cases. Ultimately mom was admitted for further testing. Rachel followed up with mom after she transferred to another floor - she called in report and then stopped in to tell mom how happy she was that her condition had improved so drastically. Such a phenomenal caring nature Rachel has. You can definitely tell she takes her Nurse's Oath seriously and practices her profession faithfully. She practices it with care, concern and consideration for both patient and family. Florence Nightingale would be proud!
