On April 14th, I underwent surgery to have a hernia repaired as well as have an ileal conduit, of 40 years removed and a new one moved. Moving the ileal conduit that I had for 40 years could not be closed and a vacuum has been used to assist. During my time using the wound VAC, I have to come to the hospital to have the wound care. I would like to say that the Wound Care Clinic personnel are wonderful, all of them. However, two weeks post-op I was sent to the clinic to have my wound VAC changed. I was introduced to a nurse by the name of Rebecca Wood. She was awesome; she went above and beyond to take care of me. I had extreme pain having my bandages changed. She used everything she could to help. She talked to me about what she was doing, each and every time. Even nearing the end of treatment, she is very aware of any changes to my incision. I want you to know how much of an asset she is to your clinic as well as the hospital. I really think there should be more nurses that put so much care into their patients. You can tell that she really takes pride in her job. What a blessing for me to have such an awesome nurse.
