I want to recognize an amazing nurse and an incredible woman. Renee Edmonds was my daughter M's primary NICU nurse. After watching her care for my daughter the first night I immediately requested her as her primary nurse. Renee went above and beyond for my little girl. She would make her feel so comfortable and loved in my absence. She also helped me by teaching me how to care for my sick infant. She showed me how to give her first bath. She left notes for me before she left in the morning letting me know how M did the night before. She cared. She comforted me in my greatest hour of need. My daughter's father died shortly before her birth and Renee was the person who was really there for me and my daughter during this difficult time. Before M was discharged Renee left her a musical glow worm that we still cherish today. Renee is a true DAISY Nurse.
***
Renee's nursing skills and bedside manner were off the chart when my granddaughter was admitted into the NICU. She was the only nurse in the unit who had the ability to care for my granddaughter, M. She could get her to stop crying in seconds. She calmed and cared for her as she was her own. My family gave her the nickname "the baby whisperer" because of her amazing ability to comfort these sick infants. My family and I will never forget about Renee or what she did for M. She shined a light very difficult and scary time for us.
