Robyn has been one of the main reasons that I have been successful as an active duty mother. Robyn was our lactation nurse and spent countless hours while I was on the mother/baby unit, in breastfeeding group, and in individual appointments, as my daughter and I navigated the challenges of breastfeeding. Beyond that, she was critical in helping me prepare for, and have, a successful PCS across the country; while traveling with my 3-month-old and a freezer worth of breastmilk. On a sensitive note, Robyn was a true support for me. I struggled immensely with post-partum depression and due to the sensitivity of my job and it being in a geo-dispersed environment where I had no resources, she maintained contact with me and ensured that all my needs were met, that I was put in contact with various sources of support within the community and that I was cared for as a person, mother and service member. I don't say it lightly when I say that she is one of the main reasons that I have made it to through the first year of motherhood. As a nurse and military professional, she cared for my family exceedingly. Her work with me and my daughter are a true reflection of her character and her value within her profession.
