Rosalyn came into my room this morning to share a video and provide information about Coronary Heart Disease. At the time she came in, there were too many other procedures happening. So, I asked her to come back after 11 am. She was extremely gracious and kindly responded to my request. We watched the video together and after we discussed the issues that gave me concern. I also never connected them with heart disease. I never knew that as a patient suffering from difficulty breathing could be due to gaining 5 lbs or more per day because of water retention. And that weighing oneself several times a day helps in the diagnosis. We talked about processed foods as it also explained in the video. In a kind and loving way, she gave me "a wake-up call." She is low key, yet persistent, kind, patient and most of all does her job well. This is a very valuable service and must be offered to each and every patient. The service she provides makes patients aware of their health issues and what to do to resolve them. By doing so, patients are better informed and become aware of this valuable information.
