Throughout the night Rose came to solve what to me were insurmountable problems.
Rose Cuizon and her colleagues settled us on the unit after a night and day in ICU (emergency surgery for perforated bowel) Alarms and shouts of “Help me” from my 85-year-old husband woke me. It looked like a war zone to me. Blood spatter covered his gown, bed, socks, hands, and arms. He had pulled out his IV! He was working to dislodge all other lines (he has frontal dementia). Rose and the team cleaned up the chaos and comforted him simultaneously. Throughout the night Rose came to solve what to me were insurmountable problems: his need to get out of bed, his anger and disorientation, putting on and removing restraints all night long, and solving his feelings of loneliness that he expressed by moving my sofa parallel to his bed so we could hold hands. Serious illness/strange environment/caring and creative nurse = a hospital stay turning out well.
