I read this letter all the time even now, and sometimes it helps me through my day. Rudy has helped me through one of the darkest moments of my life.
I was in a motorcycle accident in October 2019. I lost both of my legs, had more broken bones than I can count, and had so much pain. Rudy was one of my nurses at that time. But so much more! She has compassion and caring that are unmatched. My son came in to visit and she took the time to take him down to the gift shop to buy me a stuffed animal. He was so very happy to do this at a time when my family was handling all they could. She was always willing to help them with the little things. I was here for a long time and every day she came in with a smile. You can tell this was her true calling and purpose in life. When it was time for me to leave and transition to other care she wrote me a letter and gave me a necklace. I read this letter all the time even now, and sometimes it helps me through my day. She has helped me through one of the darkest moments of my life. Waking up with no legs, my life was forever changed. I had to come back for another surgery and was so happy she was here. She came in and made sure to get my pain under control before she left. I want Rudy and UPMC to know how much she has touched my life. She will be in my, and my family's hearts forever.
